National Fertility Awareness Week: Fertility – The Path to Pregnancy

Updated: Nov 6

Graco is proud to support National Fertility Awareness Week (3 - 7 November) as part of its One Family campaign with The Path to Pregnancy. Fertility isn’t always a straight line. It’s a journey shaped by hopes, heartbreak, and everything in between. For some, it begins with quiet preparation. For others, it’s marked by waiting, loss, or unexpected turns. Whatever your path, Graco wants you to know: you’re not alone.

Throughout National Fertility Awareness Week, Graco will be sharing stories, expert insights, and signposting to organizations that offer support on the Graco UK Instagram account. Whether you’re just starting out or navigating a difficult chapter, it’s hoped you’ll find a place where you feel seen and supported.

Feeling fertility challenged?

One of the experts Graco has partnered with is Nicola Huxley, a fertility coach with a background in psychology and a decade-long personal journey to motherhood. She’s shared her advice with Graco on trying to conceive when it’s taking longer than expected. Here’s some of Nicola’s key takeaways.

Stop. And breathe.

“Stress and anxiety are not conducive to conception; in fact, quite the opposite. Research links high stress months with lower conception rates (40% lower), so protecting your mental health is practical fertility work. If you don’t already meditate, give it a go. It’s a great way to slow down, reflect and connect with the real you.”

If you have been trying regularly for a year, book a GP appointment.

“Or sooner if you’re over 35 or have known health issues, to check that both of you are physically fit to conceive naturally. Knowing the facts allows for informed choices, and brings clarity and confidence regarding next steps.”

Allow yourself a defined window of time to optimize your fertility.

“It takes between three and four months to improve egg and sperm quality to maximise chances of natural conception. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about selecting smart, sustainable lifestyle changes that you and your partner can make and maintain together. Re-assess your diet, your fitness, your sleep, and meet your needs, not desires.”

Find the support that feels right.

“The right fertility coach can help you explore what’s holding you back, guide you through emotional release, and help you cultivate a mindset of calm confidence. Support looks different for everyone. It might be a close friend, family member, or trusted colleague, or you may prefer the privacy of an online coach.”

Taking charge of fertility nutrition

Preparing for pregnancy can be a minefield, so Rosie Letts, Registered Nutritional Therapist and Fertility Specialist, has shared her expertise with Graco to help parents to be.

Rosie tackles the importance of nutrition and lifestyle when it comes to pregnancy, sharing four key pieces of advice:

Build a Balanced, Nourishing Foundation

“You don’t need a complicated plan to support fertility — just focus on balance, variety and real food. In my experience, shifting the mindset from restriction to nourishment makes the process feel far more sustainable and positive.”

Focus on Key Fertility Nutrients

“Certain nutrients are especially important during the preconception phase. Including these regularly helps build a strong foundation for pregnancy. A good-quality prenatal multinutrient can help fill any gaps. Look for one that includes methylated folate, vitamin D, zinc and omega-3s.”

Support Gut and Hormone Health

“Your gut microbiome plays a surprisingly big role in fertility, influencing how you absorb nutrients and metabolise hormones. I often notice that when people start improving their gut health, other symptoms such as bloating, PMS or low energy begin to settle too. It’s a sign the body is finding balance.”

Create Supportive Lifestyle Habits

“Fertility isn’t only about food. Sleep, movement and emotional wellbeing all play a part in preparing the body for conception.”

Fertility issues can be isolating. Graco has also partnered with the PANDAS Foundation, The Worst Girl Gang Ever and Dadvengers who have all shown their support and shared their viewpoints on all things fertility.
